All our imported products are stocked in the US: they have already cleared US Customs and satisfied FDA/USDA inspections. We usually process and ship your order within 2 business days. You will be promptly notified in case of unexpected delays.

All orders for non-perishable items (or "dry goods") are shipped by Joie de Vivre from our own warehouse. Standard shipping method is FedEx Ground or USPS; transit time is usually between 2 and 6 business days depending on the destination of the shipment. Please indicate whether your delivery address is a business or a residence so that your package can be properly routed. Whenever possible, please specify your street address in addition to your P.O. Box, if applicable. Sorry, we do not ship overseas.

Delivery Charges for Dry Goods

Standard shipping charge on delivery of Dry Goods is a flat $9.95, regardless of weight or the order amount. Orders to Alaska and Hawaii are shipped with USPS Priority Mail and incur a $10 Air surcharge, up to 10 lbs; if your order to AK or HI weighs more than 10 lbs, we will contact you about the actual shipping charges.

For deliveries to Alaska and Hawaii, we use USPS Priority Mail. Orders over $75 and under 10 lbs ship for $10. Orders under $75 and under 10 lbs ship for $19.95. If your order to AK or HI weighs more than 10 lbs, we will contact you about the actual shipping charges.

Delivery charges apply for each delivery to each separate address.

Rush Delivery

For an additional $20.00, FedEx 2 Day Air gets your order to you in 2 days from our ship date. This charge applies to shipments up to 10 lbs. Next Day delivery is also available: all FedEx Overnight shipments are dependent on weight and destination of the order. For Overnight shipments or 2nd Day Air shipments over 10 lbs, we will charge you what FedEx charges us. We make every effort to ship your order as economically as possible.

For any Rush order, we strongly recommend that you indicate your "must have" date in the "Comments to JDV" box of our on-line order form. We will contact you if your desired date cannot be met.


We usually process your order within 2 business days. Your order is shipped as soon a possible, unless you request a future arrival date in the "Comments to JDV" box of our on-line order form. You will be notified in case of unexpected delays.

Perishable items are shipped separately.

All Fresh Meats bear an item # starting with G. These fresh products are shipped directly from our vendors' own processing plants and cannot be combined for shipment with other products sold by Joie de Vivre (if you order a combination of perishable and non-perishable items, they are treated as two separate orders).

Perishable Items need refrigeration.

They are shipped in reusable Styrofoam boxes with gel ice packs that will keep them fresh during transit time. Please refrigerate them on arrival. Raw meat products should be consumed or frozen within a week of receipt; please refer to the specific product page to check the shelf-life of cooked, smoked, dried and otherwise prepared meat products. Although we give FedEx "Driver Release" instructions, we strongly recommend that you either use a business address for delivery of fresh products or make sure that someone is home when FedEx brings your order.

Air shipping only for perishable items.

Orders are normally shipped FedEx 2 Day from CA (Overnight during the summer months). Your order can be shipped on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of each week. Orders shipped on Thursday require Overnight delivery ($20 surcharge). Orders shipped on Friday require Overnight delivery and a $15.00 surcharge for Saturday service.

Delivery charges for perishable items

Shipping/handling charges for these perishable items are based on the weight of the merchandise that you order and the destination of the package. Shipping charges are automatically calculated when you proceed to check-out and appear on your order confirmation.

You can find out in advance what the FedEx 2 Day shipping charges will be for a specific order by consulting the following tables.

  • First, add the weights of the perishables that you are ordering.
  • Then, look for the zone associated with the state where your order will be shipped (Chart 1)

Shipping charges include a $10 packaging fee that our vendor charges us to prepare your order. Our goal is to keep Air shipping charges as low and fair as possible.


For deliveries to California, we are required to add 7.625% sales tax on non-food items.


Orders placed on-line require a valid Visa, MasterCard or Discover card.


frenchselections.com uses an industry standard Secure Server (SSL) from GoDaddy. Your browser's security features and symbols will show the secure server is active once you reach the forms requiring personal information. Most browsers include a small graphic of a closed lock along the bottom status bar to show secure mode. Also the site URL will start with "https://" instead of the more common "http://". All credit card information is encrypted for your security.

Your total satisfaction keeps us in business. All the products offered by Joie de Vivre are carefully selected and we hope that you will enjoy them as much as we do. If you are not completely satisfied with a particular item, please let us know by e-mailing us at orders@frenchselections.com or by calling us at 800-648-8854. We will promptly replace the product or refund your money. Please call us before returning any merchandise so that we can give you a Return Authorization number.


Information gathered for the purpose of creating, processing and completing your on-line order from Joie de Vivre's frenchselections.com web store is kept private: we use it solely for the purpose of billing, fulfilling and shipping your order. We never sell, rent or share your telephone number or your e-mail address with anyone. Unless instructed not to do so, we will add your name to our "paper" mailing so that you receive our yearly color catalog.


Sign up to receive our monthly newsletter. You will be notified when we post a new batch of recipes, explore a new French region, share our in-depth discovery of a product, run a special sale or announce the arrival of new items. You always have the option of discontinuing your subscription at any time by e-mailing us at info@frenchselections.com and typing "Remove" in the subject field.


We occasionally share parts of our customer "paper" mailing list with other reputable organizations whose products or services might be of interest to francophiles. If you prefer not to receive these mailings, e-mail us at info@frenchselections.com , type "mail preference" in the subject field, and indicate the name and address that should not be shared. Your phone number and e-mail address are never shared.


To ensure the safe arrival of your order, we often cushion packages with plastic loose-fill. Most of the plastic products we use are gathered from our vendors and local businesses that used to dispose of them in landfills. We encourage you to reuse the loose-fill yourself. You may also deposit it for reuse or recycling at one of the many collection locations across the country. For the location of a plastic loose-fill collection center near you, call 800-828-2214.
